Life can change in a moment.
The coronavirus pandemic affected our lives in many ways. It has wreaked havoc on society and the economy. Global confirmed cases of the virus have risen to 7 million with more than 400,000 deaths to date. No nation has been spared as the virus swept around the world. There is no cure found, nor vaccine developed to fight this, even if discovered, it can take months before making it commercially available.
In many parts of the World, borders are closed, airports, hotels, and businesses shut, and school canceled. This pandemic changed how we work, play, and learn. Education has changed dramatically, with the distinctive rise of e-learning, whereby teaching is undertaken remotely. A significant number of the World’s workers have been forced to work from home. Digital platforms have become a way for many of us to work, get fit, or be educated and entertained.
On the brighter side, the lockdown that brought billions of people to stay at home has caused positive changes in the environment and the climate. Many countries experienced a huge drop in air pollution, increase in water clarity, reduction in carbon emission, and other positive impacts on the environment include governance-system-controlled investments towards a sustainable energy transition and other goals related to environmental protection. The lockdown offers us a sense of how a greener World might feel.
As we emerge from this situation, the World we are coming back to, is far more different and uncertain than it once was. The resilience of mankind has been tested by this coronavirus pandemic. Those who can adapt fast to the changing times usually gain the upper hand. “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, not the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.” By Charles DarwinIn these unprecedented times, positivity is needed more than ever. I chose to see the situation as a call to action to enhance oneself, contribute to the goals of the company, and to participate in creating a positive impact to the environment. Focus and resilience in what we do so that we can go through all these and come out victorious.
