Over 50 participants from the Commercial and Industrial sector, media and government took part in the exclusive WEnergy Global seminar on Financial Benefits of Rooftop Solar PV systems. The event was opened by the Deputy Ambassador of The Netherlands, Mr. Huub Buise, emphasising the climate change agenda and the importance of green growth. The Secretary General of the Myanmar Industrial Association (MIA) Mr. U Win Htin, with over 5,000 members, and the Vice Chairman of the Solar Energy Group emphasised the importance of cost reduction in industries and having access to reliable power. Just a few weeks back Myanmar industries lost 10% of their production, with hundreds of millions of losses, due to power cuts. MIA, said Atem Ramsundersingh, CEO of WEnergy Global, can mobilise its members and if 3,000 buildings could be solarised with 150-200 kWp each, MIA could contribute to 10% of the existing installed capacity of power generation of Myanmar. Financing will play an important role in getting solarisation up to speed and WEnergy Global is preparing a facility for that.
